Analysis of Pesticides and its Formulations

The Company has complete in house facility to execute various jobs related to formulations & residue analysis of pesticides

What are pesticides?
Pesticides are synthetic chemicals applied by farmers to protect crops against diseases, insects, and weeds. A pesticide is a substance or mixture of substances used for killing, preventing, controlling, or lessening the damage caused by pests like insects, plant pathogens, weeds, mollusks, birds, mammals, fish, nematodes (roundworms) and microbes that compete with humans for food, destroy property, spread or are a vector for disease or cause a nuisance.

Many pesticides are poisonous to humans. Some pesticides contribute to global warming and the depletion of the ozone layer. The rate of pesticide breakdown following application varies widely. As a result, pesticide residues can remain on food as well as in soil and water. Maximum residue limits (mrl’s) have been established for foods world wide. Other Countries have equivalent programs whereby they limit pesticide residues in imported foods. DTH can provide Pesticide Analysis for a variety of pesticides in soil, water and food.

At DTH the pesticides can be detected up to PPM and sub PPM level.

Based on Chemical Composition
  • Organochlorine
  • Organophosphorus
  • Sythentic Pyrethroids
  • Carbonates
  • Organosulphar
  • Organic Acids

Pesticides are often referred to according to the type of pest they control. Another way to think about pesticides is to consider those that are chemical pesticides or are derived from a common source or production method. Other categories include biopesticides, antimicrobials, and pest control devices. Biopesticides are certain types of pesticides derived from such natural materials as animals, plants, bacteria, and certain minerals. For example, canola oil and baking soda have pesticidal applications and are considered biopesticides. Biopesticides fall into three major classes:

  1. Microbial pesticides consist of a microorganism (e.g., a bacterium, fungus, virus or protozoan) as the active ingredient.
  2. Plant-Incorporated-Protectants (PIPs) are pesticidal substances that plants produce from genetic material that has been added to the plant.
  3. Biochemical pesticides are naturally occurring substances that control pests by non-toxic mechanisms.
  4. (4)Conventional pesticides
